Banned Books READ-OUT

Albright College Library Participated in its First Banned Books Read-out

In the celebration of the American Library Association’s (ALA) Annual Banned Books Week (September 30 – October 6), Albright College’s Gingrich Library hosted a Banned Books Read-Out on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at 1 p.m., on the steps of the library. Albright students, faculty and staff were encouraged to read from their favorite banned or challenged book.

The Library decided to take part in the National Read-out to bring attention to the importance of intellectual freedom and the harms of censorship. The goal of the Read-out is “to bring together the entire Albright community in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas.”
