Pet a Dog and Study On

PetDogOrangeStudents joined us at the Library on Tuesday, May 7th, 2013 to relax and calm their nerves with every Albrightian’s favorite Berks County Therapy Dogs.

The idea is that having dogs available for college students to interact with will help them relax while they prepare for final exams.  Research shows that interaction with pets decreases the level of cortisol — or stress hormone — in people and increases endorphins, known as the happiness hormone. The library has offered the program for several years now  during the week of exams.

Library staff handed out free soft Philly pretzels… after the avid dog petters and puppy holders sanitized their hands, of course!
